Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana arrived at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Friday morning to attend the 2024 Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR).

Accompanied by a marching band, Jokowi was welcomed by MPR Speaker Bambang Soesatyo, House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani, and Regional Representative Council (DPD) Speaker La Nyalla Mattalitti.

The session includes the MPR Annual Session, a Joint Session of the DPR and DPD, and the Opening of the Plenary Session of the First Session of the House for the 2024-2025 sitting period.

During the MPR session, President Jokowi will deliver a report on the performance of state institutions and a state speech to mark the 79th commemoration of Indonesia's Independence Day.

Additionally, in the Plenary Session, he will present the government’s note on the Draft State Budget for Fiscal Year 2025 along with its Financial Note.

This year's MPR annual session is held under the theme "Nusantara Baru, Indonesia Maju" or "New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia." The theme reflects the country’s vision for progress, including the capital move to Nusantara and the goal of advancing the nation.
