Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) underlined that under his decade-long leadership, the government has been rolling out an array of aid programs for underprivileged residents, such as Healthy Indonesia Card, Smart Indonesia Card, and Family Hope.

He made this statement during the 2024 Annual Session at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Friday.

"Our initiatives to support citizens with weaker economic capacities have had significant benefits for the nation," he said in a video broadcast on the DPR's YouTube channel.

In his speech, Jokowi noted that since he took office in 2014, the government has allocated Rp361 trillion (US$23 billion) from the State Budget (APBN) for the Healthy Indonesia Card program. This funding supports health services for over 92 million participants of the National Health Insurance (JKN) each year.

Regarding the Smart Indonesia Card program, he mentioned that his administration has disbursed Rp113 trillion (US$7.1 billion) to meet the educational needs of around 20 million students annually.

For the Family Hope program, Jokowi revealed that the government has allocated Rp225 trillion (US$14.3 billion) to improve the living standards of approximately 10 million families each year.

Meanwhile, the president highlighted that for the last five years, a budget worth Rp60.3 trillion (US$3.8 billion) has been allotted to fund the Pre-Employment program, which aims to enhance the skills of about 18.8 million workers across Indonesia.

The 2024 Annual Session, themed "New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia," includes the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), and the DPR Plenary Session.
