Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed Angga Raka Prabowo as Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday.

Angga, 36 years old, will assist Minister Budi Arie Setiadi during the remaining tenure until October.

Angga's political career began in 2012 when he joined the media team for the Gerindra Party, led by current Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto.

In the 2014 Presidential Election, Angga served as Campaign Media Director on the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN).

Earlier, Minister Setiadi expressed hope that Angga’s appointment would help the ministry address current tasks efficiently.

Setiadi emphasized the need to promptly address several matters, including implementing derivative regulations and institutions for the personal data protection law, accelerating the eradication of online gambling, improving national data architecture and governance, and utilizing artificial intelligence for public services.

On the same occasion, President Jokowi also appointed Bahlil Lahadalia as Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Supratman Andi Agtas as Minister of Law and Human Rights, and Rosan Roeslani as Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
