Jokowi received the highest award from the Palestinian government, the Grand Collar Order of the State of Palestine, which was presented by the Special Envoy of the Palestinian President Riyadh Al Maliki at the Merdeka Palace here on Monday (Aug 19).
This award was given in recognition of Indonesia's consistent support for the Palestinian people's struggle for independence.
Jokowi said on his Instagram account that the award was a tribute to the commitment of world leaders and influential figures, including King Salman of Saudi Arabia, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, and President Xi Jinping of China, who had earlier received similar awards.
The head of state emphasized that Indonesia will firmly support Palestine's struggle to gain international recognition and full membership in the UN.
"Thank you to President Mahmoud Abbas for this honor," President Jokowi stated.
