Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor emphasized the government's commitment to realizing the protection of workers and the implementation of responsible business practices to maintain a balance between economic growth and social welfare.

"The Indonesian government is committed to encouraging and supervising the implementation of these principles so that every worker in this country can enjoy their rights, be protected, and work in humane conditions," Noor stated here on Thursday.

Noor conveyed this statement while speaking at a seminar titled “Strengthening Indonesia's National Strategy in Business and Human Rights to Realize Decent Working" on Wednesday (August 21).

On that occasion, he highlighted the importance of joint commitment in carrying out responsible business practices.

Responsible practices mean that every step taken not only pays attention to economic benefits but also their impact on the environment, society, and human rights.

As part of this commitment, the government has issued the National Strategy for Business and Human Rights (Stranas BHA) through Presidential Regulation Number 60 of 2023.

The regulation stipulates the issuance of supportive policies and strict supervision, as well as increasing the awareness and capacity of employers.

He said that Stranas BHA is expected to be the basis for realizing business practices that prioritize human rights principles and uphold international labor standards.

"Through close collaboration between ministries, employers' organizations, and workers' unions, we will be able to strengthen the implementation of policies that support inclusive and sustainable economic growth," Noor stated.

He affirmed that the Manpower Ministry is also keen on encouraging policies that integrate human rights principles into business practices.

"This is not only important for legal compliance but also a requirement to increase productivity and competence in the business world," he emphasized.
