Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Ambassador for the 2024 International Sustainability Forum (ISF) Lady Dyandra stated that the majority of young people now accord priority to sustainability.

"Around 60 to 70 percent of young people have started to make this (sustainability) issue their priority," she remarked at a press conference on the ISF preparation here on Thursday.

The ambassador noted that currently, many young people are assigning priority to sustainability, whose realization requires their participation, in addition to government policies and the involvement of private parties.

"Indonesia is a very strategic global player for sustainability issues. We as young people also consider that sustainability is a very important (matter of) concern that we should take care of," she emphasized.

Dyandra expressed hope that the presence of youth representatives in ISF would encourage other youngsters to take real actions that the community can emulate in the efforts to realize sustainable development.

The ISF was established as a platform to encourage collaboration and share good practices among stakeholders in the decarbonization sector in pursuit of realizing sustainable growth.

The forum will be held at the Jakarta Convention Center on September 5-6 to discuss various issues on sustainability.

The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment earlier appointed Lady Dyandra, who holds the title of Miss Intellectual Indonesia, and actor Dion Wiyoko, as well as actress Chelsea Islan, as ISF ambassadors to support the dissemination of information on sustainability issues to the public.

"Several ambassadors are involved as our youth representatives because the sustainability issue is not just about the government, policymakers, and business players but also involves the entire community and young people," the ministry’s Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation, Rachmat Kaimuddin, stated.
