During the launch of the 2024 Manpower Festival (Naker Fest) in Jakarta on Friday, the minister remarked that the government had issued Presidential Regulation No. 68 of 2022 aimed at guiding vocational training centers to link and match their courses to the actual needs of the job market.
"The regulation tasks the Manpower Ministry with not only reforming vocational education but also developing and improving job market information systems, which stand as a crucial pillar of the job market," she explained.
Fauziyah highlighted the fact that people without a senior high school diploma accounted for half of Indonesia's workforce, emphasizing the need to further lower the unemployment rates among senior high school and university graduates.
She stressed that such conditions indicate a mismatch between supply and demand in the job market.
The minister noted that the 2024 Naker Fest constitutes one of the strategic initiatives taken by the government to reform the management of the labor market in Indonesia.
She underscored that a solid labor market is essential to produce more high-quality workers that occupy middle- to high-level posts, with the end goal of bringing Indonesia out of the middle-income trap in 2045.
Fauziyah mentioned that the Manpower Ministry is organizing the 2024 Naker Fest in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to provide information and services related to the manpower sector.
The festival, taking place at JIEXPO Kemayoran on August 23-25, features a series of activities, including a job fair showcasing about 110 thousand job vacancies.
