Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's National Police (Polri) has prepared 4,730 personnel to secure Pope Francis' visit from September 3 to 6.

"In this operation, 4,730 personnel are involved with details of 1,210 from the Polri Headquarters and 3,520 from the Greater Jakarta Police," said Police Brigadier General Tjahyono Saputro, head of the Polri's bureau of information management and documentation, on Friday.

He said the same number of personnel will secure the 2024 Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF), which will be held on September 5 and 6 in Jakarta.

"We will also implement the TFG (tactical floor game) for scenarios that are likely to occur from the time of the Pope's arrival until his departure to Papua New Guinea," he said.

A TFG is carried out to anticipate threats such as natural disasters and security disruptions.

In this operation, Polri will collaborate with the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres), the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT), the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), and the Armed Forces (TNI).

The joint TFG will be held in Cilangkap, Jakarta, on September 1.

Saputro said the VVIP security guards for the Pope will come from the Vatican Swiss Guard.

"Personnel in the first security ring will be from the Vatican; there will be six squad guard personnel," he added.

Earlier, Polri held an exercise for a special operation to secure Pope Francis' visit and the ISF event.

Chief of the operation, Police Commissioner General Imam Widodo, said the exercise aimed to equalize perceptions and increase the personnel's ability and skills.

"This preoperative exercise is very important to provide understanding on the standard operating procedure (SOP) and how to act in the field," he added.
