The minister's remarks were made while bidding farewell to members of DPR's Commission I, responsible for foreign policy, during the commission's working meeting at the Parliament Complex here.
"Do not abandon the Palestinian people alone while their rights are being violated," Marsudi emphasized after attending the meeting on Thursday.
Marsudi remarked that supporting the Palestinian people is the cause of humanity and justice. Indonesia's perseverance in supporting Palestine has also gained global attention and respect.
The minister affirmed that the government and the parliament have supported and complemented each other in a shared endeavor to strengthen Indonesia's stature among nations.
Hence, she is convinced that the incoming parliament for the 2024-2029 term would play its role in the Palestinian cause.
The minister also admitted to feeling humbled and honored to be the captain of Indonesia's diplomacy for the last decade. Marsudi affirmed her commitment to contributing to the nation after her tenure.
Marsudi has been one of the several ministers of President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) Onward Indonesia Cabinet who have bid farewell to DPR members overseeing their works as their tenure will soon end.
Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and then-social affairs minister Tri Rismaharini had earlier bid farewell and sought forgiveness from their colleagues in the parliament.
The tenure of the current Onward Indonesia Cabinet will end on October 20, 2024, when Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka will be inaugurated as Indonesia's new president and vice president, respectively, for the 2024-2029 term.
