Jakarta (ANTARA) - Nickel Industries Limited has underscored its commitment to fostering education and empowering future leaders from Morowali, Central Sulawesi.

"We are incredibly proud to support these bright young minds as they embark on their academic journeys," head of sustainability at Nickel Industries, Muchtazar, said while welcoming ten recipients of the company's inaugural university scholarship program at Hasanuddin University in Makassar.

"Education is the cornerstone of sustainable development, and by investing in these students, we are investing in the future of our industry and our community," he added, according to a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.

He said that the knowledge and skills the recipients acquire will not only shape their future but also contribute to the sustainable growth of Morowali and beyond.

Muchtazar expressed his enthusiasm for the program, which provides full financial support for undergraduate studies and aims to nurture talent and encourage innovation among the youth of Morowali.

The ten scholarship recipients, selected for their academic excellence and potential, will pursue degrees in various fields including Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Informatics Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Accounting, and Law.

"This scholarship program is a testament to our commitment to social responsibility and community development," sustainability communication supervisor at Hengjaya Mineralindo, a subsidiary of Nickel Industries, Harry Cahyono, said.

"To the scholarship recipients, I encourage you to seize this opportunity with both hands. Your hard work and dedication will pave the way for a brighter, more sustainable future for all of us. We believe in your potential to become the leaders and innovators of tomorrow," he added.

The welcoming ceremony at Hasanuddin University was attended by university officials, representatives from Nickel Industries, and scholarship recipients.

The event was expected to mark the beginning of a transformative journey for the students, which would not only involve gaining academic knowledge but also developing the values of integrity, sustainability, and innovation.
