The minister urged the event participants to urge their family members and neighbors to emulate a healthy lifestyle so they can continue with their activities in life.
Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, during the 2024 "Ayo Sehat Festival" here on Saturday, invited the public to start leading a healthy lifestyle so they can live longer.

"I ask the people to live a healthy life so that they do not get sick and can reach the age of 72 or even 96 and have many great-grandchildren," Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin remarked.

He said that a healthy lifestyle can start with engaging in regular morning exercise, or at least walking around the house, not eating excessively, and getting at least six hours of sleep.

"If this can be carried out, our life can at least reach 72 years," Sadikin remarked.

Citing the example of Dewi Rohana, a 96-year-old woman present at the event, Sadikin highlighted that she had implemented a model healthy lifestyle, such as a diet low in meat but high in vegetables and fruits and getting at least six hours of sleep.

Rohana also sunbaths every morning and does her housework without excessively relying on machines.

"This should be emulated. Also, let us diligently measure blood sugar, make sure it is below 200 mg/dL, and maintain cholesterol levels. The abdominal circumference should be maintained, under 90 cm for men and 80 cm for women," he remarked.

The minister urged the event participants to urge their family members and neighbors to emulate a healthy lifestyle so they can continue with their activities in life.

On the same occasion, Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Triadi Machmudin, stated that the 2024 Ayo Sehat Festival was aimed at reminding all people, including pregnant women, children, and the elderly, of the importance of maintaining health.

The festival, held on September 14-15, is filled with various activities, such as the health museum that displays about life cycle, medical device exhibitions, and community gathering involving 100 academic partners and integrated health post cadres.
