Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will remain solid and uphold in following the rules for mutual progress and maintaining the stability of the Indonesian business and economy.

According to Kadin Chairman, Arsjad Rasjid, all regional chambers throughout Indonesia will continue to work together to carry out tasks for the common interest, especially as a forum for Indonesian entrepreneurs.

"I invite all members and administrators of Kadin Indonesia to remain solid and upright, and to uphold the rules for the progress of the organization, as well as in carrying out the organization's programs," Arsjad stated at a press conference in Jakarta, Sunday.

He emphasized that the members of Kadin would continue to adhere to its Articles of Association/Bylaws based on Law Number 1 of 1987 and Presidential Decree Number 18 of 2022, particularly in leading Kadin Indonesia as the only organization that serves as a forum for the business world.

Furthermore, he added, Kadin still had a big task to pursue the economic growth target of 8 percent and the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045.

"There are still many economic tasks that we must carry out in facing future challenges, we must be able to ensure that our organizations continue to run according to our interests. Let's work together to achieve the economic growth target of 8 percent for Indonesia Emas 2045," Rasjid noted.

Such a strong statement was made as a response to the extraordinary national deliberation initiated by the Advisory Council and a handful of Kadin Indonesia administrators in Jakarta, Saturday (Sept 14), which appointed Anindya Bakrie as a newly elected chairman for the 2024-2029 period to replace Arsjad Rasjid.

Rasjid emphasized that Kadin would investigate violations of its Articles of Association/Bylaws related to the implementation of the extraordinary deliberation.

"We will take disciplinary action against the involving parties to ensure that Kadin remains solid as a home for all entrepreneurs from micro, small, medium to large businesses to professionals," he said.

He further emphasized that Kadin Indonesia did not belong to individuals, but to all Indonesian business actors.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson for Law and Human Rights of Kadin Indonesia, Dhaniswara K. Harjono, said that based on the Article 18 of the organization, the Extraordinary National Conference could only be held if there was a violation of the principles of the Articles of Association, financial misappropriation and organizational treasury, or the Board of Directors was not functioning so the provisions of the Articles of Association and the decisions of the National Conference were not implemented properly.

Furthermore, the implementation of the Extraordinary National Conference also did not go through the stages required by the Articles of Association, such as the First and Second Warning Letters as stipulated in the Articles of Association of Kadin Indonesia.

"There has never been any evidence or warning letter stating that there was a violation according to Article 18 of the Articles of Association of Kadin Indonesia by the General Chairman or the Board of Directors of Kadin Indonesia," Dhaniswara explained.

Deputy General Chairperson Coordinator for Organization, Law, and Communication of Kadin Indonesia, Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi, said that the Extraordinary National Conference that was held was not only illegal, but was considered to have disturbed the harmony of the organization as a strategic partner of the government in building an inclusive and sustainable economy.

"Arsjad Rasjid was elected by acclamation as the General Chairperson of Kadin Indonesia based on the decision of the VIII Kadin Indonesia National Conference. The results were agreed upon including by the parties who are now the initiators of the Extraordinary National Conference," Yukki said.

Rejection of the extraordinary national deliberation was also conveyed by 21 of the total 35 regional chambers, including Kadin in Bengkulu, Yogyakarta, DKI Jakarta, Gorontalo, Jambi, West Java, Central Java, East Java, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Maluku, North Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, Papua, West Papua, Riau, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi and Southwest Papua.
