"The water program launched in Morowali is part of the Army's efforts to support the agricultural sector and meet the community's clean water needs, which aligns with President Joko Widodo's policy," Simanjuntak said on Monday.
That same day, he inaugurated a water source point in a village in Morowali.
He stated that the military, local governments, and private entities are working together to improve community welfare by building 2,700 clean water sources across Indonesia.
The Manunggal Air program is aimed at creating clean water sources to support people's daily needs, Simanjuntak explained.
He emphasized that water is a basic necessity in life, and its shortage can trigger social and health issues, such as stunting and malnutrition.
"Currently, some people still lack access to clean water. Therefore, the TNI is focused on helping them by providing clean water, as it is a vital resource for life, sanitation, and agriculture," he stated.
Simanjuntak noted that the TNI-AD supports local governments in developing additional rice fields.
He remarked that in the future, the Army, in collaboration with the Defense Ministry and local governments, will undertake more projects that directly benefit the community.
On that occasion, Simanjuntak also handed over wheelchairs to individuals with disabilities and distributed 500 staple food packages.
He assured that the TNI-AD would continue to be a key pillar in maintaining the country's resilience, as well as a friend and protector for people across Indonesia.
