The team of Amadeus Christian and Nicolas Angga won the gold medal at the men's foursome event held at the Royal Sumatra Golf Course in Medan, North Sumatra.
"Being able to win gold after 12 years is beyond our expectations. Moreover, we mostly trained individually," Christian remarked.
He noted that ahead of the 2024 PON, he and Angga had trained individually, as he is currently studying in Jakarta while Angga lives in Central Java.
Nevertheless, the two athletes scored 136 strokes or eight under par in two rounds.
In the first round held on Sunday (September 15), the Central Java team recorded 71 strokes, while in the second round on Monday, 65 strokes were recorded.

In the second round, the Central Java men's foursome team finished the match in first place with a record of nine birdies and two bogeys.
Starting the match, the two golfers immediately scored two birdies on holes 3 and 4, followed by seven other birdies on holes 5, 7, 8, 11, 13, 14, and 17. Meanwhile, bogeys were recorded on holes 3 and 4.
Apart from training individually, Angga admitted to having only tried the golf course where the 2024 PON was held briefly before the match took place, so he did not expect to win a gold medal.
"I tried the course one month ago, only around 3–4 days. After that, I returned here only when the match started," he remarked.
Two teams from North Sumatra bagged silver and bronze medals in the foursome event.
The 2024 PON is held on September 8–20 in the two provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra.
