Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has provided digital business training to 63,985 domestic micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as of September 2024.

In a statement from the ministry in Jakarta on Wednesday, the head of the ministry's Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM), Hary Budiarto, said that the agency has been working to strengthen the digital business capacity of MSMEs by offering courses ranging from basic to advanced levels.

He said that the training materials cover topics related to digital entrepreneurship and digital marketing. An increasing number of domestic MSME entrepreneurs are recognizing the importance of using technology to advance their businesses.

"The use of technology has had a significant impact on local business players. By acquiring adequate digital competencies, MSMEs will be able to increase their productivity, expand their market reach, and compete globally," Budiarto said.

He emphasized that Indonesia's MSMEs have succeeded in attracting foreign consumers, particularly from Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.

In light of these developments, MSMEs require assistance or mentoring to know whom to consult when facing obstacles in digital business, he added.

Budiarto affirmed that the ministry will continue to invest efforts to enhance the quality and relevance of its training programs while making them more accessible to MSMEs in different regions.

"Our plan for basic-level training is to focus on hands-on lessons so that participating entrepreneurs can apply the skills they acquire without sacrificing the time they would otherwise use for selling products or services," he said.

He added that the agency will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that its MSME empowerment initiatives reach business players uniformly across all regions.
