Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto bid farewell to Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) at a working meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The meeting, the last between Commission I and the Ministry of Defense before the upcoming change in government, included the approval of five defense cooperation bills.

"On behalf of the entire Ministry of Defense, we express our gratitude and appreciation for your service," Prabowo said.

He also apologized to Commission I for any shortcomings during his five-year tenure as Defense Minister.

Prabowo emphasized that his work and leadership were focused on serving the nation.

"I apologize if, during my five years as Defense Minister, there were any disappointments, but I want you to know that my intention has always been to safeguard the interests and sovereignty of Indonesia," he said.

Prabowo, who is set to be inaugurated as Indonesia's next president in October, also extended his greetings for future cooperation with Commission I in maintaining the nation's sovereignty.

"Hopefully, we can continue to work together for our country, particularly as we navigate challenging times to ensure the safety and security of our nation and people. A greater task awaits us all," he remarked.

"May Indonesia always remain great and prosperous," he added.
