"I regard the upcoming meeting as a reflection of sound communication between national figures expected to bring progress to the country and the nation," the president remarked in an audio recording received in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Jokowi made the statement after reviewing medical services and equipment at the Kefamenanu Regional Public Hospital, North Central Timor District, East Nusa Tenggara Province.
Earlier, after the inauguration of national legislators elected for the 2024-2029 term, Chairman of the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Executive Board Said Abdullah affirmed that Megawati, the party's chairperson, would soon meet with Prabowo, the leader of Gerindra Party.
"It is just a matter of days before Mr. Prabowo and Madam Megawati hold a meeting," he stated at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday (October 1).

He also implied that the meeting might take place this week while saying, "God willing."
On the same occasion, Prabowo, currently serving as defense minister, expressed hope that he would be able to meet with the daughter of the first Indonesian President Soekarno before his presidential inauguration on October 20, 2024.
"Hopefully, (the meeting takes place) before the inauguration," he remarked.
On September 26, Megawati's daughter Puan Maharani stated that his mother would meet with President Jokowi's soon-to-be successor at an "interesting place."
"(However), a place is just a place, for sure, (as) the most important thing is the meeting," she remarked at the Parliamentary Complex.
The House of Representatives (DPR) speaker then confirmed that the two national figures were keen on the meeting while highlighting that they would meet at the right time after aligning their busy schedules.
