Serang, Banten (ANTARA) - Acting governor of Banten, Al Muktabar, on Friday said that people's welfare will be the focus of the 24th anniversary commemoration of the province.

During a special plenary meeting at the Banten Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD), he said that amid the current dynamic global, national, and regional situations, there are many aspects that must be strengthened to realize the ideals of Banten province.

"The prosperity of the people is the key. This is our road map to realize the big dream of Banten," he added.

He said that the commemoration of Banten's 24th anniversary can serve as a momentum to highlight the importance of collaboration between the government and community in pursuing development.

"Banten province is one of the strategic regions. We have good infrastructure. We continue to strengthen the economy's capacity. We encourage the potential of the northern and southern regions to complement each other," the acting governor added.

He noted that Banten province has made many achievements in its 24 years, especially in accelerating the community's welfare.

"One of the parameters of the people's welfare is the realization of infrastructure and other supporting things, such as the Human Development Index (HDI), and so on," he said.

Meanwhile, the Home Affairs Ministry's director general of regional autonomy, Akmal Malik, expressed the hope that the momentum of Banten's 24th anniversary would motivate local governments and the people to maximize their potential.

"Make this anniversary a momentum of introspection and assess the achievements that have been made since the regional autonomy establishment," he said.
