"This is better than the global average achievement of 17 percent. This is proof of our commitment to implementing SDGs," Amin stated at the opening of the 7th Annual Conference of Sustainable Development Goals in Jakarta on Monday.
According to the vice president, high achievement carries great responsibility as an example and facilitates broader collaboration and innovation across Asia.
"We should be proud of our sustainable development progress even though we have faced some challenges of the pandemic," he remarked.
Amin stated that the progress of the SDGs included a decrease in extreme poverty rates and the prevalence of stunting in toddlers, which reflects a commitment to maintaining social and health welfare.
Moreover, the vice president underscored the need for education and skills development to maintain and accelerate programs implemented while facing the dynamics of global change in the future.
He also emphasized that inclusive and relevant quality education is an important foundation amid challenges in the world of work, Industry 4.0, and preparing highly competitive human resources.
"Currently, we have started implementing a green economy by building green industries and creating green jobs," he remarked.
The vice president affirmed that this step aims to support efforts to reduce global carbon emissions, which is part of the SDGs achievement.
Furthermore, Amin highlighted the government's continued efforts to encourage investment in sustainable sectors to create quality jobs and ensure inclusive economic growth.
In addition, inclusive growth is supported by the development of the sharia economy and digital economy as sources of new economic growth, the vice president said.
"I lauded the head of Bappenas (National Development Planning) for his commitment to coordinating and strengthening sharia economic planning through the transformation of KNEKS (National Committee for Sharia Economics and Finance) into the Sharia Economic Development Agency," he remarked.
