Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi; head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Suharyanto; and the ambassadors of Palestine, Yemen, and Sudan are scheduled to release the aid worth US$3 million.
BNPB head Suharyanto emphasized that every distribution of international humanitarian aid from Indonesia is carried out in an accountable manner and targets those in need.
"All aid is distributed on the procedure and in accordance with accountability, including this aid to Palestine, Sudan, and Yemen," he said on Monday.
The humanitarian aid consists of thousands of refugee tents, family tents, tarpaulins, mattresses, blankets, lamps, children's clothing, women's clothing, ready-to-eat food, basic necessities, jerry cans, water purifiers, medicines, and medical equipment.
It is intended for 268 thousand Yemeni disaster victims; 2,895 people infected with cholera and 491 thousand flood victims in Sudan; and 1.9 million refugees and polio patients in Palestine.
The aid comprises donations made by the community, ministries, and institutions, such as the Health Ministry, Foreign Affairs Ministry, the National Alms Agency (Baznas), the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), and others.
The aid will be released on Monday night and is expected to arrive on Tuesday morning in Yemen.
Earlier, Minister Effendy informed that the delivery of the aid aims to support the citizens of friendly countries experiencing humanitarian crises due to natural disasters and military aggression.
Effendy expressed the hope that the aid will lighten the burden on victims of disasters and humanitarian crises in friendly countries, while strengthening Indonesia's role at the international level in pushing for peace between nations and upholding humanitarian values.
