"We monitored the readiness of the route and the lodgings of state guests around Sudirman-Thamrin Street, the Parliamentary Complex, and the State Palace ahead of the inauguration of the president- and vice president-elect," Central Jakarta Mayor Dhany Sukma remarked here on Tuesday.
Sukma noted that the inspection, involving all relevant stakeholders at the city government, is conducted to ensure the success of the inauguration by checking the preparedness of all infrastructure along the route.
"We swept through the route, starting from the Youth Monument, FX Sudirman, Gator Subroto, Sudirman-Thamrin, to the State Palace while identifying matters that need to be addressed," he remarked.
Sukma spoke of having earlier carried out a similar activity in front of a hotel in Gelora, Tanah Abang Sub-district, on Monday.
The mayor then stated that his side would conduct an evaluation and clean-up operations by dispatching workers employed by Central Jakarta's Environment Office, Highway Office, Water Resources Office, Parks and Urban Forests Office, Social Affairs Office, and others.
"We will focus on cleaning sidewalks, greening (the environment), polishing parks, and improving infrastructures," Sukma pointed out.
He explained that the local government had conducted clean-up operations and infrastructure maintenance routine activities.
"However, we will intensify such activities to prepare for October 20," he added.
President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka are scheduled to take their oath of office before all national legislators at the Building of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Central Jakarta, on October 20.
Furthermore, the pair will participate in a leadership handover ceremony with President Joko Widodo at the Presidential Palace.
