The traffic operation aims to improve road user behavior in Jakarta ahead of the inauguration scheduled at the Indonesian Parliament building on Oct 20, according to the police.
The operation would focus on 14 traffic violations, Jakarta Police Traffic Director Senior Commissioner Latif Usman said, according to a press statement received from his office here Saturday.
The traffic police officers would focus on violations such as underage driving, illegal use of rotators and sirens, illegal counterflow, use of phones while driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol, he remarked.
On the inauguration day, the Indonesian president-elect and vice president-elect are inaugurated by the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) by taking oath at the parliament building.
As reported earlier, Indonesians had given their mandate. At least 1.7 million voters living abroad cast their ballot for the General Elections before February 14, 2024, while more than 203 million voters residing in Indonesia flocked to polling stations on Election Day.
Voters living outside Indonesia cast their ballot at 828 polling stations through 1,580 mobile voting boxes and 651 postal services, while Indonesian residents voted at 820,161 polling stations.
On Election Day, which fell on Feb 14, polling stations at 84 electoral districts in 38 provinces remained open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. local time, while the General Elections Commission (KPU) officially announced the final results of the 2024 elections on Wednesday evening, March 20.
KPU Chairperson Hasyim Asy'ari, accompanied by other KPU commissioners, declared the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair as the winner of the presidential race, with 96,214,691 of 164,227,475 national valid votes.
Rival candidate pairs — Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md — secured 40,971,906 and 27,040,878 valid votes, respectively.
On April 22, 2024, the Constitutional Court (MK) ruled against the legal challenges lodged by the Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud MD candidate pairs against Prabowo-Gibran who swept to victory in the election.
