The body, made up of 19 members, includes three legislators each from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), the Party of Functional Groups (Golkar), and the Gerindra Party, as well as two members each from Nasdem, PKB, PKS, PAN, and the Democratic Party.
The purpose of the body is to gather and review public aspirations and submit the results to the appropriate council. It is also responsible for monitoring and following up on public reports and ensuring meaningful public participation during the legislative process.
Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, said on October 9 that the body acts as an extension of the House.
"The people's voice must be heard, and this body will be in charge of handling their aspirations," he said.
He also noted that the body will facilitate people protesting in front of the parliament building and ensure that all public concerns are addressed.
