"Praise be to God, President-elect Prabowo has entrusted me to serve as the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs," he informed after meeting Prabowo at the latter's residence here on Tuesday.
Matta, who served as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) from 2009 to 2013, said that as deputy foreign minister, he will pursue diplomacy with the Islamic World.
Matta also confirmed that Nasir will focus on diplomacy with the American and European World.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Nasir confirmed that Prabowo has asked him to manage Indonesia's foreign policy. Unlike Matta, he did not explicitly mention his upcoming assignment as deputy minister.
"My latest assignment overseas is to be Indonesia's ambassador for the UN, and I have been working in this sector for 20 years," he said.
Nasir informed that he discussed future diplomatic challenges and opportunities for Indonesia during his meeting with Prabowo.
"The President-elect emphasized the importance of Indonesia's active works to navigate current challenges and seize opportunities we can exploit," he added.
Earlier, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, the executive chairperson of Prabowo's Gerindra Party, said that the President-elect is scheduled to summon the candidates for deputy ministers and agency heads on Tuesday.
He noted that the deputy ministers invited to attend at Kertanegara are professional figures. Political parties have also proposed the names of several professional figures, he added.
On Monday, 49 figures nominated as ministerial candidates were invited to meet President-elect Prabowo Subianto at his residence. The figures comprised politicians, academics, and incumbent ministers.
