Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) stated that business actors expected the incoming cabinet of Prabowo Subianto to be free from the "silo mentality" among government ministries.

Sarman Simanjorang, Kadin's deputy chief for regional autonomy, urged the president- and vice-president-elect, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, to exercise prudence in selecting cabinet ministers, especially those entrusted to manage economic affairs.

"Business actors expect the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet to prioritize (the inclusion of) figures with professionalism, leadership experience, (and a) collaborative (approach), as well as are capable and not prone to the 'silo mentality,'" Simanjorang noted here on Tuesday (October 15).

Simanjorang remarked that competent and experienced ministers in Prabowo's cabinet should collaborate in devising strategies and breakthroughs to address economic challenges amid the ongoing national and global economic stagnation.

Indonesian businesses also expected the new cabinet to work promptly to control domestic deflation and reduce unemployment and poverty, which, by March 2024, stood at 25.33 million poor, he remarked.

"Although (ministers) belong to political parties, they should put forward professionalism so that they will prioritize the people rather than their party while working as ministers," the Kadin executive stated.

Meanwhile, Simanjorang affirmed that business actors have responded positively to the potential inclusion of incumbent ministers to Prabowo's cabinet, which is consistent with the president-elect's commitment to the continuity of President Joko Widodo's policies.

He noted that incumbent ministers summoned by Prabowo to his residence on October 14 comprised Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

The Kadin deputy chair also highlighted Prabowo's decision to increase the number of ministries in his cabinet, saying it is acceptable, provided it will not cause more red tape for businesses.

"The business actors expect the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet to be united, solid, under the same goal, and not engage in corrupt practices," Simanjorang remarked.
