He underlined that the KPU is focusing on completing the distribution of election logistics to the most remote areas. To this end, the appointed printing companies are urged to immediately complete the printing process.
Afifuddin made the remarks after checking the printing factory of PT Antar Surya Jaya, one of the companies tasked with printing the ballot papers, in Surabaya City, East Java, on Thursday.
He explained that transportation challenges differed from region to region, especially in the outermost regions. Hence, to avoid delays in delivery, the printing process must be completed first for those regions.
Afifuddin noted that the printing of ballots for Central Papua Province had been completed several days ago, and all ballots are currently been shipped.
"We always appeal to the logistics division of KPU's regional offices to prioritize most remote regions first," he remarked.
During his visit to East Java, the KPU head visited the factories of PT Antar Surya Jaya and PT Inpera Pratama Indonesia in Surabaya City and Pasuruan District which are tasked with printing ballots for several regions, such as South Sulawesi, Central Papua, and East Nusa Tenggara.
On November 27, 2024, Indonesians will vote to elect a mayor, district head, and governor in their respective regions.
The regional office of KPU in each region will conduct the vote tabulation process until mid-December of 2024.
The elected governors and deputy governors will be inaugurated on February 7, 2025, while the inauguration of elected mayors, vice mayors, district heads, and deputy district heads will be carried out on February 10, 2025.
