Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin on Thursday highlighted the importance of coordination within the Cabinet to ensure that the government can carry out its functions properly.

He made the statement in response to the large number of ministries planned in the new government led by President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"I think the division of work in each ministry is not a problem. The most important thing is coordination," Amin said while issuing a press statement after a meeting with the ranks at the Vice President's Palace here on Thursday.

He then emphasized the important role of coordinating ministries in regulating relations between ministries under their mandate so that such arrangements run effectively.

"Ministries or coordinating minister need to coordinate well so that these ministries can carry out their functions effectively, and this coordination must be carried out well," he explained.

Hence, he said he believes that the large number of ministries will not be a problem as long as coordination between them runs well.

"I think the number of ministries is not a problem as long as the coordination between ministries runs well," he added.

Earlier this week, President Prabowo Subianto invited 49 figures tipped to be ministerial candidates to his residence on Jalan Kertanegara, South Jakarta, on Monday.

They were reportedly summoned to be assigned ministries. The figures consisted of politicians, academics, and ministers in President Joko Widodo's government.

On Tuesday, around 59 figures tipped for the posts of deputy ministers and agency heads were invited to meet with Prabowo at his residence.
