After joining Thursday's briefing, former Bogor mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto, who is poised to be a Cabinet member, said that Prabowo is keen to unify the thinking of his future ministers who come from different backgrounds.
"He said, each member of the incoming Cabinet has a different background; some are activists, cultural figures, or politicians. He said that they should share a coherent perspective," he informed.
He noted that during the "orientation," which took place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. local time, Prabowo briefed them about global economic conditions and geopolitics, state governance, and the "art of proper management of the country."
The President-elect also invited several speakers to help him highlight the priorities of his incoming government to the participants, he added.
"Those speakers spoke about corruption from the international perspective, features of artificial intelligence, and the 'success story' of economic development in Dubai," Sugiarto said.
Minister- and government agency head-designates were invited for a briefing on October 16, 2024. The topics discussed in the first briefing included leadership, geopolitics, and the gross domestic product (GDP).
The "orientation" on October 16 and 17 followed the President-elect's summons to at least 49 figures nominated as ministerial candidates to his residence in Jakarta on Monday. The figures comprised politicians, academics, and incumbent ministers.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Prabowo summoned another 59 figures nominated for the posts of deputy ministers or heads of government agencies.
Prabowo and Gibran Rakabuming Raka will be sworn in as the new president and vice president of Indonesia on October 20, replacing President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.
