They flew to their hometown in Solo, Central Java, on an Air Force Boeing B737 plane, which took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta in the afternoon.
Widodo left Merdeka Palace around 2:15 p.m. local time following a ceremony to welcome the 8th President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and attending his own farewell at the Merdeka Palace Square here on Sunday afternoon.
Prabowo accompanied Widodo to Halim Air Base, and they traveled in the same vehicle from the Merdeka Palace -- a white MV3 Garuda Limousine manufactured by the state-owned defense company PT Pindad.
Widodo also greeted the public through the open roof of the vehicle.
The SUV bearing the "Indonesia-1" plate was used by Prabowo to travel from the parliament complex to the Merdeka Palace after his inauguration.
Some ministers from the 2019–2024 Onward Indonesia Cabinet saw off the former president from the air base.
Prabowo, 73, and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, 37, took the oath of office for the 2024–2029 term at a People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) plenary session on Sunday.
