Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chargé d'Affaires of the Polish Embassy to Indonesia, Maciej Tumulec, said he is optimistic that under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, the Indonesian government will be very active on the international stage.

"I believe that the new Indonesian government will be very active in the international arena, which will help attract much-needed investment," he expounded in a statement released here on Sunday.

Tumulec said he is confident that Indonesia will continue to develop under Prabowo's leadership and the nation's global role will be realized, in keeping with expectations.

He also conveyed Poland's readiness to cooperate with Indonesia's new government in various aspects.

"We hope that the new government can meet the national expectations and wisely lead the country toward prosperity," he added.

Tumulec was one of the country representatives who attended the inauguration of the new president and vice president at the parliament complex on Sunday.

Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka took the oath of office for the 2024–2029 term at a plenary session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR). The ceremony was held at the Nusantara Building of the parliament complex in Jakarta on Sunday.

Hundreds of MPR members, national leaders, and leaders of political parties witnessed the swearing-in procession.

Indonesia and Poland began diplomatic relations on September 19, 1955.

Based on Investment Ministry (BKPM) data, Polish investment in Indonesia was recorded at US$2.92 million in 2023. It flowed into 37 companies and 364 projects in various sectors.

Poland is the first European Union (EU) country to forge a Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) in Criminal Matters agreement with Indonesia, according to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
