Jakarta (ANTARA) - Russian Federation Senator from the Republic of Dagestan, Ilyas Umakhanov, called Prabowo Subianto a great president after attending his inauguration ceremony and listening to his state address in Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday.

"This ceremony was great. And the great was the President," Umakhanov said at the Parliament Building, Senayan, here on Sunday.

He added that President Prabowo has opened very broad prospects for the people and the Indonesian nation in the fields of politics, welfare, and natural resource management.

Prabowo is also considered to have opened up new prospects in terms of independence in the fields of agriculture, energy, industry, and trade.

Umakhanov wished success and welfare to the Indonesian people. "We love Indonesia and Russia. God bless you," he remarked.

According to the senator, the relations between Indonesia and Russia, particularly in the leadership level, are very dynamic and have been well-established for many years.

Russia is running many projects in Indonesia, including joint ventures in the natural resources sector and joint production activities, he added.

Russia has also provided many ideas concerning the development of atomic energy in Indonesia.

"We have many other fields, education, medical care, everything where Russia takes good positions," he added.

Prabowo and Gibran took the oath of office as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024–2029 period at a plenary session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Sunday.

A total of 709 out of 731 members of the MPR attended the swearing-in ceremony. The plenary session was also joined by national figures, political party leaders, and representatives of friendly countries.

The friendly countries that sent their envoys for the inauguration ceremony included Germany, Qatar, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Laos, Vietnam, Vanuatu, Brunei Darussalam, Timor Leste, Serbia, and China.

They further included Cambodia, New Zealand, the Solomon Islands, the Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Egypt, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, India, Jordan, Japan, Italy, Canada, France, Brazil, and Fiji.
