Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta has said that the Palestine issue would be his main focus in pursuing diplomacy with the Islamic world.

"We have a Constitutional mandate to help Palestine's independence, and I think all our efforts as the Indonesian nation—both political diplomacy and humanity—will be demonstrated to help Palestine's independence," he informed in a statement released here on Tuesday.

The Palestine issue must be a concern because any resolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict will have a major impact not only on the region but also on the world, he explained.

"The war in Palestine will be a game changer. The final result of this war will change the constellation not only in the Middle East but at the global level," he added.

Although President Prabowo Subianto has specifically tasked him with handling Indonesian diplomacy with the Islamic world, the division of tasks with the other two deputy foreign ministers is still under discussion.

"The division of tasks between us has not been fully completed even though from the beginning I was given a focus on the Islamic world," he informed.

Matta was inducted in the Red and White Cabinet as deputy foreign minister along with Arrmanatha Nasir and Arif Havas Oegroseno for the 2024–2029 period by President Prabowo at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday.

The three deputy foreign ministers will work to assist Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono.

Nasir has said that he has been assigned to handle foreign relations with the American and European regions.

Meanwhile, Havas has not shared any information on the duties that he will carry out.
