Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Yassierli has said that provincial minimum wage determination will be one of the priority issues he will focus on in the first 100 days of his term.

"In the first 100 days, the first is regarding provincial minimum wage. We are currently discussing it together," he informed after the office handover event at the ministry's office in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He affirmed that his ministry will seek the best solutions in cooperation with the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo).

In the first 100 days, he will also try to devise solutions for new job creation. He underlined that digitalization and downstreaming have been emphasized by President Prabowo Subianto.

Furthermore, he said that his ministry is currently still trying to identify problems. Despite unemployment and employment termination, there is still potential to create new jobs, he added.

According to Yassierli, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, has conveyed his hope to the Ministry of Manpower regarding the issues of productivity and human resource competitiveness, specifically those related to reskilling and upskilling.

"We must ensure the curriculums for the training (are) really in accordance with the needs of industries," he said.

He further said that President Prabowo has instructed his ministry to prepare human resources to meet the criteria to work abroad in several fields, such as hospitality and paramedic services.

In addition to tackling employment issues, he informed that his ministry will continue bureaucratic reform, which is expected to have a positive impact on its performance.

"In the first 100 days, we hope there is a breakthrough that can become a new spirit for us," he remarked.

Yassierli was inaugurated as Minister of Manpower in the Red and White Cabinet of President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday with 47 other ministers.
