The ambitious target is part of the development plan for the next five years under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
At the "CollaborAction for The Earth" press conference here on Tuesday, Rohmattullah emphasized the importance of private sector engagement, as the government's ability to support economic growth is only at 7 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).
"The government does not have sufficient funds to support this target. The 8 percent growth will mostly be supported by the private sector," he remarked.
He also underscored that elevating Indonesia's gross national income (GNI) to around US$30 thousand will require significant private sector leverage.

In this case, Bappenas has identified several sectors ripe for collaboration between the private sector and the government, with the green economy emerging as a particularly promising area.
He stated that the green economy will be a development model that can align economic growth and environmental sustainability in Indonesia, though it will also require growth in the extractive sector.
The potential for converting excess landfill waste into alternative energy sources or other useful recycled products is one such example of viable green economic initiatives.
Data from the National Waste Management Information System revealed that in 2023, some 38.21 percent of the total 38.2 million tons of waste remained unprocessed.
"We continue to make efforts to balance it by increasing resources that are more sustainable. This is the task that we will do in the next five years," he remarked.
