Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto has asked the Ministry of Law to review regulations that are not in line with the government's vision of achieving self-sufficiency in food and energy, according to Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas.

During a meeting with Commission XIII of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Monday, Agtas noted that the president had pressed for reassessing all forms of legal instruments, including laws, government regulations, presidential regulations, and ministerial regulations.

Apart from matters related to food and energy security, he said the head of state had also asked the Law Ministry to handle regulations that might hinder Indonesia's downstreaming policy and impede efforts aimed at realizing fair acquisition and management of lands.

"Hence, we, at the Ministry of Law, will prioritize the implementation of this program (legal review)," he pointed out.

Monday's meeting with the DPR was the first for the Ministry of Law since its establishment and separation from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

Deputy Minister of Law Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej and some other officials accompanied Minister Agtas during the meeting.

Earlier during the meeting, Agtas told legislators that the newly formed ministry had been successful in running public services as usual despite still undergoing an institutional transition process.

"We have set a target to conclude the transition process in terms of personnel, regulations, and others by June 2025 at the latest," the minister emphasized.

He said that a transition team had been working to divide and allocate tasks, personnel, and assets to each of the three new ministries formed, namely the Ministry of Law, Ministry of Human Rights, and Ministry of Immigration and Penitentiary Affairs.
