Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, made this announcement.
“We are facilitating 46 tourism service providers, including travel agents and accommodation providers from various provinces in Indonesia, through a collaborative marketing approach,” Marthini said in a statement on Thursday.
She explained that the ministry partnered with the Tourism and Creative Economy Office of Jakarta and the Youth, Sports, Tourism, and Creative Economy Office of Southwest Papua to set up a 180-square-meter Indonesian Pavilion at the event.
Indonesia continues to promote its five super-priority destinations, with Bali positioned as a key international travel hub.
According to Marthini, the UK is Indonesia's leading tourism market in Europe, contributing the highest number of tourists.
Between January and August, 267,403 travelers from the UK visited Indonesia, marking a 19.55 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year. British tourists also spend significantly, averaging US$3,394 per visit.
“We hope this growth continues and that it will contribute positively to the Indonesian economy throughout the year,” Marthini added.
She also highlighted that Indonesia’s tourism sector welcomed 11.6 million foreign tourists in 2023, exceeding the target of 8.5 million. This represents a 98.3 percent increase over 2022.
In September, foreign arrivals reached 1.27 million. From January to September, total arrivals hit 10.3 million, up 20.28 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
“We are optimistic that we will meet or even exceed our target by the end of 2024,” she said.
Cecep Rukendi, the ministry’s Director of Tourism Marketing for Region II, noted that Europe accounted for 17.4 percent of Indonesia’s tourism market share in 2023, with 335,000 British tourists visiting Indonesia.
