"Yes, the plan is as such. I will coordinate with the General Elections Commission (KPU) and the Minister of Home Affairs soon," Hadi confirmed after seeing off President Prabowo Subianto for his two-week overseas trip at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Friday.
Minister Hadi added that he will coordinate with KPU and Home Minister Tito Karnavian to discuss further steps for making Pilkada voting day a national holiday.
Hadi explained that designating Pilkada as a holiday this year is due to the election being held simultaneously across all provinces, districts, and cities for the first time.
"Let us hope that everything goes smoothly," he said.
At the 2024 National Coordination Meeting of the Central and Regional Governments in Sentul, Bogor, on November 7, KPU Chairman Mochammad Afifuddin confirmed the readiness for the 2024 Pilkada.
He stated that preparations for the regional election, scheduled for November 27, are "99 percent ready."
According to Afifuddin, the KPU has completed all logistics preparations for the election and has inaugurated the voting organizing teams nationwide.
The 2024 Pilkada will be held in 37 provinces, 415 districts, and 93 cities.
A total of 1,557 candidate pairs will compete in the 2024 Pilkada, including 1,169 pairs vying for district head and deputy district head positions, and 285 pairs for mayor and deputy mayor positions.
