He called for the LLAJ Bill to be prioritized in response to the Cipularang KM 92 Toll Road pile-up in West Java on Monday.
At the parliament complex here on Tuesday, he said he suspected that the accident may have been caused by an overloaded truck, or Over-Dimension Overload (ODOL). According to him, the ODOL problem has continued as there is no law to address the issue yet.
"This (the bill) is very urgent. The recent accident at (Cipularang Toll Road KM 92) might be because of over-dimension overload," Lasarus said during a coordination meeting with the House Legislation Body.
He added that the issues related to road capacity will remain under the Public Works Ministry's authority.
Therefore, he emphasized that the LLAJ Bill will not affect the authority of any government institutions, such as the Public Works Ministry, so as to prevent issues later. He assured that House Commission V has prepared an academic manuscript for the bill's legislation.
"There were some issues saying that (the bill) will remove the authority of certain institutions. Here we emphasize that we do not intervene in the authority of any institution," he said.
Earlier, a multi-vehicle collision involving a truck and 17 minibuses was reported at Cipularang Toll Road KM 92, Purwakarta district, West Java, on Monday afternoon.
