Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - At least 90 flights to and from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, were canceled as of Wednesday afternoon due to the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara, an airport official informed.



"As of Wednesday, there were 26 domestic flights and 64 international flights affected," the airport's general manager, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, said in a statement issued by his office on Wednesday.



The 26 domestic flights that were canceled consisted of 13 departures and 13 arrivals.



They included eight flights (four arrivals and four departures) on the Labuan Bajo route; eight flights (four departures and four arrivals) on the Jakarta route; and six flights (three departures and three arrivals) on the Lombok route.



They further comprised three flights (two departures and one arrival) on the Tambolaka route and one flight arriving from Sumbawa.



Meanwhile, the 64 canceled international flights consisted of 34 departures and 30 arrivals. Earlier, only flights on the Australian route were affected, but later flights to other countries were also canceled.



The cancelations affected four flight departures and two flight arrivals from Singapore; two departures and one arrival from Hong Kong; one departure and one arrival from Doha; one departure for Delhi; one departure and one arrival from Bangalore; and one departure and one arrival from Darwin, Shahab informed.



They also included four departures and four arrivals from Sydney; six departures and six arrivals from Melbourne; five departures and four arrivals from Kuala Lumpur; two departures and two arrivals from Brisbane; and one departure and one arrival from Pudong.



The eruption also affected flights on the Gold Coast route (one departure and one arrival); Perth route (two departures and three arrivals); Cairns route (one departure and one arrival); Adelaide route (one departure and one arrival); and Incheon route (one departure and one arrival).



Shahab said that the flights cancelations began from November 4, 2024 after Mount Lewotobi erupted.



He added that passengers on the affected routes can opt for a refund, reschedule, or reroute.
