The invitation was extended verbally by PM Modi to Prabowo during a meeting on the sidelines of the latter's state visit abroad some time ago.
"When meeting with the Indian PM, the President received an invitation to attend India's national day," head of the Presidential Communications Office, Hasan Nasbi, said at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (December 2).
India's Republic Day is commemorated on January 26 every year. According to Nasbi, PM Modi specifically asked Indonesia to participate in the troop parade in India.
"So, the President plans to ask the TNI (Indonesian National Defense Forces) to also participate in the parade on India's national day," he informed.
While chairing the Plenary Cabinet Session at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, he added, the President shared the results of his state visits to a number of countries with Cabinet members.
President Prabowo also emphasized that Indonesia will not join any defense bloc.
