Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Manpower Yassierlie revealed that his institution plans to issue a manpower minister's regulation concerning the 2025 national minimum wage stipulation on Wednesday (December 4).

"We are currently in the process of drafting a minister's regulation, which is targeted (for issuance) tomorrow. Hence, today, we are harmonizing the regulation with the Ministry of Law," he remarked in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He then drew attention to the government's decision to increase the average national minimum wage by 6.5 percent for next year, as announced by President Prabowo Subianto on Friday (November 29) afternoon.

The minister underscored that the government considered inputs and suggestions conveyed by various parties, including employers and labor unions, before determining the wage hike.

"We (the Manpower Ministry) initially proposed a six percent increase. However, considering the need to boost workers' purchasing power, Mr. President opted for the 6.5 percent increase and announced it," he stated.

Yassierlie further highlighted that the Ministry of Manpower is scheduled to participate in a limited meeting with representatives of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, the Coordinating Ministry for Food, the Finance Ministry, the Industry Ministry, the Trade Ministry, and the Ministry of Public Works.

According to the minister, the meeting planned for today would convene possible measures to be taken by the government to deal with the current economic conditions.

"We will talk about fiscal policies, among other things," the minister pointed out.

Earlier, while announcing his decision, President Prabowo emphasized that the minimum wage hike is expected to elevate the living standards for Indonesian workers.

"The welfare of laborers is an essential aspect. We will continue to fight for improvements in their welfare," the president told reporters at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta.
