The land is in the Waidoko area, Konga Village, Titehena Sub-district, NTT, as reported by the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center team.
"The location is confirmed to be within a safe radius from the dangers of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki or other potential disasters," Suharyanto, the head of BNPB, noted in a statement from his office on Thursday.
He ensured that the safety of the land was based on the results of a review recently conducted by a team of experts from BNPB, the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and the Ministry of Housing and Settlements.
Later, permanent housing for an estimated 415 families of refugees relocated from Nobo Village, East Flores, will be built on the relocation land, according to the agency head.
This step aligns with the planning of his side and several related technical ministries along with the East Flores District Government.
"Hopefully, we can start building the housing as soon as possible," Suharyanto remarked.
Meanwhile, head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari stated in a separate interview that the Ulowolo region in the Titehena is also prepared as a relocation site for refugees.
The land in Waidoko and Ulowolo is a new location projected by the government to replace the plot for the earlier relocation plan, namely in the Kojarobet area.
Muhari remarked that the Kojarobet area in East Flores is considered inadequate for relocation due to frequent flooding and the land status yet to be released by the community.
"Meanwhile, the Botongkarang-Noboleto area, projected for 936 families, and the Lewoloroh area are still under protected forest status. It is still being reviewed by the minister of environment," he said.
