"Both nations have actively worked together to enhance regional stability and strengthen our defense capabilities," he stated at the commemoration event of the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) held by the Embassy of Vietnam in Jakarta on Thursday.
Butarbutar remarked that Indonesia-Vietnam relations have historically been built on mutual respect, shared values, and collaborative efforts in various sectors, especially defense and security.
"The spirit of cooperation developed through decades of shared experiences and mutual support is a critical asset as we confront the challenges presented by the global security environment," he remarked.
He noted that in the last 29 years, Vietnam has actively integrated into the ASEAN by participating actively in all sectors of cooperation and contributing to maintaining international solidarity.
"This has bolstered cooperation, both among member states and with external partners significantly, advancing the development and success of ASEAN as a collective entity," he remarked.

He expressed optimism that Indonesia-Vietnam relations, especially in defense and security, would continue to deepen.
"As we collaboratively address emerging challenges and stride to secure the stability of our region, I am confident that our partnership will remain a cornerstone of peace and mutual cooperation," he noted.
On that occasion, he also extended congratulations on the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the VPA and the 35th anniversary of the All-People's National Defense Day to the people of Vietnam.
"On behalf of the government of the Republic of Indonesia, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of Vietnam and the distinguished representative of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam," he remarked at the event.
