"We are deeply serious about our commitment to addressing climate change, which is called Indonesia FOLU Net Sink 2030," Antoni noted in a statement from his office on Wednesday.
He stated that the cooperation between Indonesia and the United Kingdom has been carried out through the Forest Law Enforcement; Governance and Trade in Timber Products into the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (FLEGT VPA); Multistakeholder Forestry Partnership (MFP Programme); sustainable forest funding; and social forestry and private sector partnerships.
He affirmed that various forms of collaboration were also explored through several international forums, including conferences held through the UN and G20.
Moreover, his side was mandated to contribute 60 percent of the national emission reduction target. Hence, he ensured the continuation of collaboration and synergy with related parties.
"This ministry is mandated to contribute almost 60 percent of the total national emission reduction target," Antoni stated.
On the same occasion, Ambassador Jermey said that Indonesia and the UK continue to support each other to achieve various goals, especially in the forestry sector, and looked forward to continuing the collaboration in the future.
The UK and Indonesia have supported each other to achieve various goals. He is grateful for the collaboration over the years and looking forward to achieving more goals, he remarked.
Indonesia strategically aims to achieve the FOLU Net Sink by 2030, representing a state where carbon absorption surpasses emissions in the forestry and land use sectors, particularly given these sectors' significant role as major emission contributors, second only to the energy sector.
