"Besides health, education is Indonesia's key to the birth of excellent human resources. President Prabowo Subianto's administration has reaffirmed this," said Head of BRIN's Center for Educational Research, Trina Fizzanty.
Speaking at an education-themed talk show in Jakarta on Thursday, she highlighted that Indonesia requires support from all relevant parties to enhance the quality of its education sector and ultimately produce high-quality human resources to realize its dream of a golden era.
She affirmed that comprehensive support and synergy among stakeholders are vital, considering the complex nature of educational challenges in Indonesia.
On the same occasion, Head of BRIN's Social and Humanity Sciences Organization, Ahmad Najib Burhani, pointed out that Prabowo's genuine care for educational development is reflected in his Excellent School program.
"Mr. Prabowo is promoting Excellent School as a quick-win program, under which the government plans to build excellent schools in various regions across Indonesia," he said.
The program, set to start its implementation with the development of 12 senior high schools next year, is similar to the concept of research- and innovation-based schools invented by BRIN's Center for Educational Research.
Burhani noted that the program will adopt standards from high-quality institutions in the United World Colleges network as benchmarks. He also suggested developing teaching models to train educators capable of driving broad-based progress.
