Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's national ideology of Pancasila, or the Five Principles, has guaranteed equal opportunity for every citizen to lead the state and government as a president, according to the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP).

In view of this, BPIP Head Yudian Wahyudi highlighted that Pancasila drives Indonesia to hold high regard for every member of the nation.

"Irrespective of what their futures hold, all Indonesian citizens were born a prospective president of the Republic of Indonesia," he remarked during the agency's 2024 Year-End Reflection event held in Jakarta on Thursday.

Wahyudi highlighted that the national ideology had proven to be instrumental in uniting various sultanates and kingdoms across a vast archipelagic region to form the Unitary Republic of Indonesia, whose independence was announced in a 50-second proclamation.

Despite its briefness, he affirmed that the independence proclamation drove regional sovereigns across the archipelago to voluntarily relinquish their power to the independent nation-state without bloodshed.

"Never has the world witnessed the birth of a nation like Indonesia, where sovereign kings and sultans willingly incorporated their regions into a newly born state that had nothing but a name back then," he emphasized.

Acknowledging the priceless uniting power of the Pancasila, he affirmed that the BPIP has consistently disseminated information on the Five Principles for the last five years in collaboration with other institutions, including ministries and regional governments.

He further stressed that the agency would continue to help Indonesia strengthen the values promoted by Pancasila, aligning with the vision of the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"We place special focus on promoting the Pancasila ideology, democracy, and human rights," he stated.
