Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka on Friday visited a residential area in Bandung city, West Java, to greet local residents and seek their suggestions for the government's people-oriented programs.

According to a statement released by his secretariat in Jakarta, Gibran directly interacted with the locals to ensure that the policies implemented by the government are genuinely supportive of the people.

He stressed that the government needs to identify the actual needs of citizens to devise and execute on-point programs and policies that are oriented toward the welfare of the nation.

During his visit, the VP also performed the Friday prayer at a nearby mosque in the densely populated area.

He then continued to mingle with the residents and distributed milk and packages of books to children.

Earlier the same day, the son of former president Joko Widodo commenced his agenda in West Java province by inspecting the Jatiluhur I Regional Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) in Bekasi.

Declared a national strategic project, the water infrastructure is designed to enhance people's access to clean water, aligning with President Prabowo Subianto's vision of realizing water self-sufficiency to improve people's life quality and prevent childhood stunting.

Gibran then proceeded to Karawang district to visit a new station of the Whoosh high-speed train and reviewed its readiness to handle the Christmas and New Year travel surge.

He said that the station is projected to open to the public by Tuesday (December 24, 2024).

The Vice President then headed to Bandung to review the condition of the exit gate of a toll road.
