Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto proceeded to hold a limited meeting on Indonesia's preparations for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays with his aides right after landing in Jakarta from his state visit to Egypt.

In the company of Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Prabowo arrived in the homeland via Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base on Monday at 10:45 a.m. local time after wrapping up his participation in the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation Summit in Cairo on December 17-19.

According to his secretariat's statement cited here, the president was welcomed by several officials, including Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, upon his arrival.

Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) General Agus Subiyanto, Chief of the National Police (Polri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Muhammad Herindra also welcomed the head of state there.

Further, President Prabowo convened with the aforementioned state officials in the VVIP room of the air base, where he discussed measures taken by the government to maintain order and security as scores of people embark on domestic trips during the holidays.

On that occasion, the president highlighted the need to take anticipatory steps against potential natural disasters, urging relevant stakeholders to maintain coordination and disseminate reliable information on weather.

Through a joint decree signed by three ministers, the Indonesian government has declared December 25 and 26, 2024, as a Christmas holiday and a collective leave day, respectively.

According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation, around 110.67 million people are predicted to travel domestically during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The Indonesian government has taken various measures to optimally manage high public mobility during the holiday season, such as inspecting the preparedness of transportation infrastructure and mobilizing over 140 thousand joint security personnel.
