Jakarta (ANTARA) - State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Rini Widyantini on Tuesday inducted Zudan Arif Fakrulloh as the new head of the National Civil Service Agency (BKN) and instructed him to take measures to improve the civil service.

According to a statement released by the ministry in Jakarta, Widyantini highlighted that the Civil Servant Law mandates the state to overhaul the management of state apparatus.

The minister said she believes this will require collaboration between her office, the BKN, State Administration Institution (LAN), and National Archives (ANRI).

To this end, the minister urged Fakrulloh to lead the BKN to prioritize meritocracy and ensure transparent and accountable recruitment, placement, and promotion of civil servants.

She then asked him to monitor and perfect the civil servant management system.

Furthermore, Widyantini called on Fakrulloh and his aides at the agency to assess and refine the competency of civil servants in a professional and objective manner.

Lastly, the minister urged the BKN to adopt technology to provide better services to civil servants.

"It is important to ensure that employment services offered to civil servants are carried out professionally and efficiently and are based on reliable technology and accurate data," she pointed out.

Fakrulloh is a seasoned bureaucrat. He served as director general of population and civil registry at the Home Affairs Ministry from July 1, 2015, to March 15, 2023, when he was appointed as head of the ministry's National Border Management Agency (BNPP).

Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian also tasked the new BKN head with governing Gorontalo and South Sulawesi as acting governor.

Fakrulloh succeeds Haryono Dwi Putranto, who previously served as acting head of the BKN.
