The budget will be used to procure various types of agricultural machinery, including four-wheeled tractors, two-wheeled tractors, combine harvesters, rice transplanters, and water pumps.
However, Sulaiman did not provide details regarding the exact quantity of agricultural machinery that will be prepared with the Rp10 trillion budget.
Earlier, the government also allocated Rp12 trillion (around USD741.2 million) for the development and revitalization of agricultural irrigation networks to increase food security and support agricultural productivity.
The irrigation infrastructure that will be built will include tertiary, primary, and secondary irrigation channels. The project will cover two million hectares of agricultural land across Indonesia.
"Mr. President (Prabowo Subianto) approved tertiary, primary, and secondary irrigation for two million hectares (of land)," he said.
The minister underscored that the Indonesian government is supporting the improvement of the national irrigation system.
He explained that the improvement of the irrigation system will help increase the planting index and rice productivity in Indonesia.
The central government is working with the Ministry of Public Works on this major project. The budget prepared for irrigation development will also be used to improve the water distribution system.
He expressed his appreciation to President Prabowo for devising crucial policies related to the development and revitalization of irrigation infrastructure, which are considered important to support food security.
The Ministry of Agriculture is targeting national rice production of 32 million tons in 2025, higher than the target set for the previous year, namely 30 million tons.
With agricultural machinery assistance and irrigation infrastructure revitalization, the government is confident that it can achieve the rice production target.
